Digital Animation and Motion Graphic Independent Study – Curriculum Proposal

Goals of the class

This class is designed to further explore aspects of digital animation in combination with interactivity of the web. There will be four short projects, each varying in length from 5 to 2 weeks in length.

1. 6.5 Billion I’s is a film commenting on Martin Buber’s philosophy of I and Thou.
2. Bubble Girl is a film commenting on tourism and cultural pollution. It chronicles the friendship of two animated figures from different sides of the world and the subsequent misunderstandings, and cultural clash resulting from contact.
3. The Experiments is a short film on the film format wars.
4. The Film that Almost Wasn’t is a personal affirmation of the artist coming to terms with film making.

• Curate a digital animation film screening at a venue (New Nothing Cinema?) Connect the event to a webpage with previews and artist bios?
