SFAI Design+Technology Salon

Updated September 8, 2006 @ 8:41 pm

I’m not teaching this semester at SFAI Design+Technology, but the event I started along with Paul Klein, the D+T chair, is continuing with a *hard* look at the 01SJ/ISEA conference that happened last summer in San Jose. It will be good, as Paul is good about setting the bar high for events with good speakers, wine and snacks.

It will be good for me because I am not working or doing anything for this event, so I can participate and test my might at handing out the most business cards per square inch (bc sq/in).

I’m at Linux World Expo AUG 14-17 (doing Open Source and Creative Commons tasks)

Updated August 15, 2006 @ 7:47 pm

So in participating at the first day of Linux World Expo in San Francisco as part of Creative Commons, I met up with Nick Veitch, the editor of Linux Format UK who asked me to write an article about Creative Commons and the Creative Commons Developer Community, which is available under a BY-NC license. I also got to meet up Kees Cook from OSDL, Inkscape, and now defcon capture-the-flag-2006-winner fame (I think I now have met the most Inkscape developers. I’ve met: Ted, Bryce, JonCruz, Andy Fitszimon, Mental, Kees, John Taber, almost ScislaC like 3x (and pre-inkscape developers, Raph Levien and Pat Suwalsky)) Anway…onto the next days of this conference…

You can track down free badges for the expo floor and come hang out with me via the cc blog.

TONITE: Creative Commons Salon San Francisco 6! PLoS, Magnatune.com, and Digg.com - 6-9PM @ shinesf.com

Updated August 9, 2006 @ 6:07 pm

That is right, tonite is the sixth (half-a-year) of Creative Commons Salons. Please come and join in on the fun:

Just a reminder that CC Salon is happening tonight from 6-9pm at Shine in San Francisco. CC Salon is a free, casual monthly get-together focused on conversation, networking, and presentations from people or groups who are developing projects that relate to open content and tools. CC Salon SF is now being presented in conjunction with CopyNight SF.

This month’s line-up of speakers includes Hemai Parthasarathy and Barbara Cohen of the Public Library of Science, Owen Byrne of Digg, and John Buckman of Magnatune. Shannon Coulter will be DJing a set of CC music from Magnatune’s catalogue.

For more information, visit this event’s Upcoming.org listing.
