It seems like Sunday is the only day I have to post various snippets anymore. I flew to Chicago on Friday for SFAI and right back the next day. Got to hang with my cuz, Brad, and then did my gig on SAT and flew right back. This last paragraph really sums up a lot right now.
Now onto the snippets:
Ciara’s tracks are good. I can’t get enough hip hop ever, but especially this dirty south crunk beat stuff. Makes me want to start mixing again…
You know wikipedia is good when they have definitions for hiphop. Check this quote about crunk tracks:
“The delivery of the lyrics, as with other Southern rap, is based on a rhythmic “bounce” which is very effective in clubs. In fact, several crunk songs have been banned in venues due to how wild the crowds can get.”
When I get back to Oakland, I want to go to some hiphop clubs with redlucite.org.
So, the OCAL team is gearing up for release 13 of the Open Clip Art Library. I’m still plugging away at Gopetslive.com until MAY 17 in SEOUL, and am slightly depressed this weekend as I have had many less fun things to do…bummer.
Check out Deegan and the fiance! Man, one thing bad about all of my friends being spread out around the world is that it is tough to get to the weddings everywhere these days! Deegan is getting married in Jamaica…that would be a good trip, right? Redlucite has a friend in Kingston, so maybe I can find cheap tix. I really hated having to miss Fox and Sneha’s wedding and then Dan and Hsiao-Lan’s post-wedding get together last summer. So tough…
So, when I get back to the states on MAY 17, I have to get enough money to cover three months of rent before I start teaching at SFAI. I really think I need those 2.5 months to read, write, and get into full academic rigor. Also, I will be speaking at Dorkbot SF at the end of May. Stay tuned!
