For anyone trying to offset your carbon footprint: Get a shovel, dig a hole, and bury yourself. I’ll take volunteers to do this first and I will document the whole process from start to near finish.

While that would solve the problem in a fairly definitive way, carbon offsets are a nice temporary measure so long as it doesn’t involve planting trees.

The carbon offset program that I like the best basically goes around to lower income areas and for free will retrofit the heating systems, and fix insulation in them so that people’s lives are improves as well as offsetting carbon emissions because of reduced heating needs.

There’s no shortage of projects like that which can be done while we figure out what an actual proper solution is.

Prevention may be better than cure, but it isn’t an offset.

What has got you this upset? Is there something in particular about carbon offsets that bother you?

We’re not doing much in the way offsets but we’ve dramatically reduced our energy use. Does this offend you in some way?
