Yes, this is true…let the floodgates open! Andy had some nice screengrabs of the future
This new functionality, developed by Google Summer of Code student, Bruno Dilly, will be in the upcoming Inkscape 0.46 release…bring it on sooner rather than later! Let your favorite Inkscape developers know you want 0.46 out sooner rather than later
Let the flood of remixing begin!
Now, I start to question why even store anything on your hard drive?
Hopefully though, this will bring on many new levels of users and developers to Open Clip Art Library. We need many developers to help with the system, which is now running on the rock-solid OSUOSL.org infrastructure. Bring on the content!

“Now, I start to question why even store anything on your hard drive?”
Because the OCAL went offline for 2.5 months, and even with the “rock solid OSUOSL.org infrastructure”, nothing is foolproof, and because OSUOSL offered OCAL hosting a week or two after it went down, but took months to actually get that hosting online and stabilized.
That’s why *I* store things on my hard drive… and on a backup hard drive… and on some offsite storage if the stuff is important…

Gee, you sure are positive…makes me *really* want to work harder on openclipartlibrary…
Excellent! This is one of the things my wife misses greatly when she uses Linux–Microsoft products generally link to an online (Microsoft) website where you can download clipart, templates, etc.
So, the question remains: when will we leverage our userbase and have seamless *upload* of content to OpenClipart?
Well Joseph, not having tried the plugin yet, I believe the Export part of the plugin handles uploading to OpenClipart.
Yes, this is true…it does handle upload, but we need to test out the webdav patch to cchost…yeah!
Ah, finally. I requested that feature last year. Hey, better later than never.
I’m so excited! I’ve been begging Bryce for this feature, for years!
Brilliant!!!
/me doesn’t like “2005″ on http://openclipart.org/media/downloads , will that change soon please?
Though the ocal site is back, the ‘font version’ has disappeared
Stelt, it will change if you help it to change. Yes, there have been some trials and tribulation. But whose to blame? All of us! We need people to help and resources to keep things updated.
So… where is this code? Is it somewhere in the Inkscape public svn tree? Because if it is, I sure haven’t been able to find it.
Ok, in the public svn tree in the /src directory, the code touches these files:
./menus-skeleton.h
./ui/dialog/ocaldialogs.h
./ui/dialog/ocaldialogs.cpp
./verbs.cpp
./file.cpp
With most of the code being in the file.cpp and ocaldialogs.{h,cpp}
What are you hoping to do with it?
Hi,
I built the latest svn revision today (https://inkscape.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/inkscape/inkscape/trunk r16600) but couldn’t find the feature… Do I have to enable it somewhere?
The only thing I do find is the setting of the server and login at openclipart.org
Anyway, thanks for working on that feature!
