I am now at one of my favorite conferences, SIGGRAPH! All last week I spent
good time with my family in the middle. My parents are moving into a new house
and I promised to help my parents sort through and move out my sister’s
belongings in her room, as well as my old things from growing up (all the way
from baby Jon to alterna-Jon, just be thankful now we have rejon).
My girlfriend and I packed in a full load of visits, tractor riding, four-wheel riding, and a whole manner of country hijinx including going to a 4H Fair where we got to see all manner of farm animals.
Now, I’m at the first ever Open Source Pavilion which the ever-so-awesome Ton Rosendaal, from Blender, masterminded for this years Siggraph. I’m representing for Creative Commons through presentations on the subject, creating and publishing, as well as demo’ing Inkscape and the Open Clip Art Library.
This is really going to be major and will attract much press. Siggraph is the largest graphics conference in the world. Ton and I conspired last year to get this rolling and he really deserves the credit for making it all happen. I hope people get into Inkscape and CC.
If you are in the Boston area or are attending Siggraph, coome to booth 1527 on the show floor. Also, if you want to attend and help me demo Inkscape and Open Clip Art Library, come on by and I’ll hook you up with a t-shirt so you look official.
UPDATE: Here is a link for free passes.
