Protest ATT (DSL, PHONE and CINGULAR CELL)

Maybe I’m getting older and a little more political, but my ATT (not linked) service has been horribly slow and then when I found out about ATT allowing the government and/or having some participation in some illegal spying program, I decided to swap my service.

I swapped my net connection at home from their crappy connection speeds to the near-in-price 10 megabit cable modem from RCN.

I also cancelled that crappy extra phone line ATT/SBC makes people get since it is the equivalent to my spam mailbox. Also, when I switched and they asked why I spelled out and confirmed that the lady wrote down exactly why I cancelled my service while taking huge strides to not make the person helping me to feel bad or feel that I’m directing these issues onto them (this is important and possibly a great skill learned from Open Source communities).
I still need to switch cell phone services. Does anyone have a good recommendation for swapping? That is the last problematic service IMO and I want to stay on a plan that has a SIM chip (and hence still some control).

Similar to my previous post about boycotting Apple, I feel that this is the best way to send a message to these bad business morals.

Looks like I’m going to get to test out my fun videomixing skills with some of that old school “desktop mixing” Matt Hope and I did at ICA London before. Anyone want to help me out? I asked Lu and Alex to help so far, but why not get some more fun video action up in that place.

Moveon.org spam actually has good event

Okay, so I get tons of announcements from Moveon.org and I don’t even know when I signed up for it, or if I did. However, one announcement seems like an interesting event next week: National Media Impact Day where one can learn how to get media coverage for events. Maybe though this is a cult group meeting or something…ramp up protest!

Upcoming Conferences: Desktopcon.org and Siggraph 2006

So, I will be at Desktopcon.org July 16-20 to present about LGM2006, Create Project and Creative Commons.

Then, I will also be at all of Siggraph 2006 in Boston July 31-Aug 3 to help out with the first ever Open Source Pavilion which features Blender, Inkscape, GIMP, Open Clip Art Library and Creative Commons.
Come and check them out!

UPDATE: Also, I am participating in LinuxWorld here in San Francisco for Creative Commons (at which Prof. Lessig is keynote speaker) and also the WordCamp, Wordpress.org one-day meeting.

American Soldiers and Blaming Americans

Ok, I just wanted to comment about how absolutely disgusting and horrible these recent American soldier rape cases are at present. Its really helpful (heavy sarcasm) sending out these young misdirected youth into the battle field to really help represent American culture (let alone that there are youth with this type of mentality in the first place…who and how are these kids getting raised?)

I’ve noticed the change when traveling abroad where people used to make the differentiation between the American military and administration, but now I get the constant: “Its you and your problem! You are to blame! Why isn’t anyone doing anything?”

Time to ramp up counter-measures, complaints and utter protest against what is happening!

This one is dedicated to Linksvayer.
