Could someone mail me a good new phone so that I can do development with it. Nokia? Sony? Someone?
The three major things that I’m annoyed with in Open Source:
- Synchronization (USING: MultiSync)
- Calendaring (USING: Evolution)
- Media Playing/Management (USING: Xfmedia)
I’m so annoyed that I can’t get MultiSync to sync my evolution with my phone. I’m so annoyed that NO media player works reliably in Open Source. I’m so annoyed that I can’t get calendar sharing working. ARGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!
I would like to say that Xfmedia is the coolest app I have used in some time for media playing. However, it has some issues that I would like to sort out. However, it so much more stable than Rhythmbox and is not a limited audio-only app.
Is it not ironic that these are the three best Apple applications: iSync, iTunes, and iCal.
I have a mission in OSS to get these three areas up to par! Who is with me!
First of all, I apologize to everyone who I have not replied to in the last 2 -4 weeks. I’m super-busy with SFAI, Creative Commons and general life changes.
In other news, I think being around people at SFAI is really helping my brain out because I’m coming up with many ideas. I recently realized that an old idea I had is now doable. The point is to have people enter a space with their various devices, making a public share that is accessible to others, but primarily to a central server that harvests the content off the public shares in order to play them back in the space using some type of auto-dj. Please check out and edit the idea here: http://rejon.org/wiki/index.php/PlayDrive
Also, I’m so excited in looking up info on this to find an excellent network editor to replace the closed-source subethaedit. Check out Gobby. I totally want to add Gobby into my workflow in a major way!
I started another reductive HOWTO: How To Write A Research Paper. It is on my wiki. Please add, delete and change it so that it can be a good rule of thumb document.
So, you want to work at Creative Commons with me and other people? Drop me an email if you live in the bay area or want to move to SF and fit the description.
We at CC really want to hire someone that is established, autonomous, friendly and brilliant!
