Upgrade of Friends

Upgraded Patrick’s blog last night. 1 friend down, countless more to go. I want your blog feeds now! Time to upgrade! I have setup Willits‘ blog and his wife Latrice’s blog, but we are trying to find the time to activate their sites in anticipation for opening up overlap.org to the public.

NOTE: I helped organize and develop this series with the new logic I learned from various Open Source projects on how to build a community. There will be free food and wine and great talks by the aforementioned people.

Also, right before this event will be a talk by Artist and Technologist Andrew Dahley in the SFai Lecture Hall, Friday, November 4 at 5:00pm http://www.sfai.edu/Event/Event.aspx?eventID=1508&navID=328&sectionID=7

Brainstorm Space

I started a page for brainstorming. Hopefully this will allow for many eyes to peer upon them, help flesh them out and ripen them so they can grow up and be projects.

I’m interested in the idea of having a booth show where there are 10-20 photo-like booths that provide various services. I want to make a scream booth for people to scream in and then they get a printout/waveform of their scream. Another thought I had is to record the scream, convert it into a ringtone, and then mail/email it to the person to be added to their phone.

Please help edit these ideas. Anyone who wants to help realize these ideas, please jump onto them. The more people that are interested, the more likely the ideas will happen.

Outsourcing Animation

Yes, that’s right, 3D and cartoon animation is now considered a technical chore and is being outsourced out of the USA: http://scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?id=32954. Its ironic that animation that is outsourced usually involves tweening (filling in the the in be-tween animations) and inking/shading/coloring of the structure that others provide. Anyhow, an interesting notion of the difference between defining structure and filling in the structure — you have to have both!

Next time you see me ask me about the 3D gang sign Greg Niemeyer and myself invented.

Article on Create

Excellent, an article on the Create Project. This will hopefully kick this project into dropping the 0.1 release. Create needs a logo as well! Anyone want to design it up?

Mario Level Editor

Yes, this Mario Bros. level editor is just too cool.

Apple Works

Looks like Apple is working hard on getting SVG into Safari. Check out more info about WebKit + SVG.

Notes:

What a weird picture of Sony’s release of new Vaios in Korea:
