• Adobe going to split Photoshop in CS3? I think this is a good move. Really, the whole groupware thing is not going places. I think better to have interoperable apps. Nothing is worse than a huge monolith that crashes. Modularization is the path to survival and rapid workflow.
• Looks like apple is getting ready to offer some form of networked document editing like Inkscape now supports, and subethaedit has enabled. Man, Apple just comes in and kills some open source projects and does this slightly revised better version that is slightly closed off and in turn, not really releasing the code that could really grow a community.

In another thought, I wonder how effective some system of auto-volunteering would have been compared to the top-down hierarchical model the government uses for this kind of Katrina situation. Hmmm…resource sharing and open source could do so much more as a model for this type of system. Hmmm…yes, I have not thought these things through whatsoever.

I’m totally getting interested in networked editing once more. I see crschmidt has advocated the need for such a piece of software like SubEthaEdit in the OSS world. I think I will look into this further. This is cool!
