I have even gone so far as to track down how I can participate in the trials. I can’t believe this is not standard practice to have these smart cards in the USA! Korea is phasing out paper tickets, which are primarily used only for the elderly and physically handicapped who get free comp. tickets…what! Here is when the translink cards will be rolled out: “TransLink® cards are no longer available to the general public. Once Golden Gate Transit and AC Transit are fully implemented in mid 2005, TransLink® cards will be widely available to transit riders through retailers, transit agencies, employers, and the TransLink® Customer Service Center. “
