One Day Down

Updated July 01, 2005 @ 14:39 PDT

My system had some major downtime yesterday. It is the first time I’ve had to rebuild partitions after major corruption. Luckily, I had written down my partitioning scheme (in my brain). I think I reached a new technical level yesterday. Before I might have just blanked my system, but I paused and methodically solved my hardware and software issue and now everything is solid like a rock and backed up. Yes, no data loss!

One word to the wise: do as superuser, fdisk -l > partitions.txt; fdisk -l -u >> partitions.txt

That will come in handy if your partitions are corrupted. Anyhow, I’m back on-line.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts on my writing. I have to crank out a big edit and get it to svgopen today. I’m a little late, but still can get it into the proceedings.

Tim Robbins is pretty cool. Maybe L and I will end our boycott of TomKat because of Robbins. The old War of the Worlds is my favorite old scifi movie.

  1. Dont give in!

Are you giving War of the Worlds a miss primarily because of Tom Cruise (TomKat!) or do you have other reasons?
With hindsight Minority Report the last Cruise Speilberg colaborration wasn’t all that great either so I’m not bothered waiting a few years to watch it on television instead, if at all.

I went to see Kung Fu Hustle instead and enjoyed it immensely.
