Novel Evolution of Planet Use

I think Edd Dumbill is great. I like his evolutionary update to the usage of the planet type site for the Xtech conference by including the recent changes from the Xtech Wiki, flickr, technorati, and Del.icio.us content aggregation related to Xtech using RSS.

I think this is so vital because so much is happening during a conference that this type of way of harvesting it all as feeds really serves a conference well. I think much better than trying to get someone to collect information, or trying to get conference-goers to download that collective writing software for group notes. Of course, there is the threshold of needing a blog, or participating in these various technology sites. But, obviously, these things are already done by the Xtech crowd and I believe bode well for future business and other types of community-based conferences.

I think this model might also be good for open source projects. I think Inkscape and OCAL could benefit from feeds from the recent changes to the wiki and other updated content.
